Cascades Citizen Monitoring Project

Thank you for volunteering for our 2008 remote camera season!  This joint effort with the Wilderness Awareness School is in its 3rd field season and our first year partnering with Conservation Northwest's Rare Carnivore Remote Camera Project.  To learn more about the program visit our monitoring page

The trainings for the season are complete, and now it is time to hit the field!

Please use this website as a reference and reminder of your team, and your field dates as they are scheduled.  Should you need to cancel for a field date OR want to switch teams, please contact Jen Watkins.  Team leaders please let us know as dates are scheduled, and we'll post the information for your team.

Cameras has been installed in low country.  Due to low water levels and snow conditions in the area, the cameras are not in their final destination so the next camera check team will move them.

Installed in early August, checks being planned.  Potential backcountry lightning fires may cause delays in checking.

Some cameras already installed in the lower country, continuing to move up as conditions allow.

Installed in response to several potential wolf sightings in the Methow Valley, and now contributing to the information base as state agencies confirm a presence of wolves in the Methow.  Cameras locations are being coordinated with WDFW to ensure.  These cameras caught the first wolf pup photos in our state in 70 years!!!  Conservation Northwest has been tracking the press and coverage of this.

Kendall Peak:  Pico and Dave M have done these checks

Installed in response to wolverine tracks seen by skiers this winter.  Being left until cameras are needed for later summer installs.  Photo below of a marten that visited the camera twice.

 

**  Responder cameras have also been installed in the Mount Baker area, Leavenworth Icicle Creek area, and near Lost Lake in the Cle Elum Ranger District.
