Join us for this FREE educational event and great discussion on wildlife and transportation planning here in Washington.

When: Tuesday, August 24th, 6:00 to 8:30 p.m. Doors open at 6:00 p.m., panel presentation begins at 6:30.

What:
A forum on the issues surrounding wildlife connectivity and interstate transportation planning, with a specific focus on Washington Department of Transportation's (WSDOT) plans to expand a 15-mile stretch of Interstate 90 just east of Snoqualmie Pass.

Confirmed panelists will include:

  • Tony Clevenger, Western Transportation Institute. Lead scientist on the team to install and monitor wildlife crossings in Banff National Park.

  • Patty Garvey-Darda, United States Forest Service. Biologist for the Forest Service that participated on the Mitigation Team for the I-90 Expansion project.

  • Charlie Raines, I-90 Wildlife Bridges Coalition. Director of Sierra Club Cascade Checkerboard Project.

  • Paul Wagner, Washington State Department of Transportation. Lead Biologist for WSDOT on the I-90 Expansion Project with a history of studies on the corridors of the Cascades.

  • Washington State Representative Edward Murray. Chair, State Transportation Committee (D-WA 43rd)

  • Washington State Representative Fred Jarrett. Member, State Transportation Committee (R-WA 41st)

Representatives from the I-90 Wildlife Bridges Coalition, elected officials, and WSDOT representatives will also be in attendance. The panel discussion will be followed by an open question and answer period.

Snacks and refreshments (including beer and wine) will be provided at the reception following the forum.
